Adoption

Many local people wish to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers buried at Adegem Canadian War Cemetery. One way to do this is by visiting the cemetery, laying flowers at a grave, or adopting a soldier.

It is a great comfort to many families, living far from Adegem, to know that the graves of their loved ones are still being cared for.

Please note the following:
- Commonwealth-Adegem.com does not operate the adoption programme and has no affiliation with the organisation that does.

- We aim to indicate on each soldier's profile whether the grave has been adopted. This information is provided voluntarily by the adopters and may not always be complete or up to date.

- The Commonwealth War Graves Commission remains fully responsible for the maintenance of the cemetery and its graves. Visitors must not alter or decorate the headstones. The only items permitted are fresh flowers (without plastic wrapping), a small wooden cross, or a small national flag.
