OccupationStock Clerk

Assigned to the Regiment on August 8, 1944.

A report from A-Sdqn: Trooper Vernham was driving a flame thrower carrier (WASP) which hit a mine on October 12, 1944. The complete front portion of the carrier was blown off and torn to pieces.

The reported location of the incident was 500 yards out of Hoofdplaat (NL). There are 2 plausible options: 1. Vernham moved from 'A' to 'C' Sqdn prior to his death. But in all fairness it's a bit odd that his body was carried to rest on a farm along 'Braakmanweg'. 2. He was with his original Sqdn. and the 500 yards from Hoofdplaat is an incorrect report.

Service records report the date of death on October 13, 1944. It is most likely October 12, 1944.
