Havoc AW404 was on a mission to Gilze-Rijen Air Field, Netherlands. The Aircraft was hit by FLAK (German Anti Air Craft) above Haamstede, Netherlands. Two members jumped and did not survived. The Pilot crash landed on a sandbar South West of Schouwen.
Pilot Officer D.A. Thomas (later promoted to Wing Commander) was taken Prisoner Of War. Stalag Luft111, Sagan, Poland. He was one the guy's from The Great Escape. Thomas remained with R.A.F. after the war until 1967. He died at age 87 in 2008. (Wings To Victory)
