The Algonquin war diary reports on September 18, 1944: At noon "B" Coy up to attack Assenede (Belgium). After some hard fighting established their HQ in town. During the engagement they had 4 casualties, Sgt Brown and Pte Tinndal were killed and Lt Caron and Pte Brannen were wounded.
Service records indicate that Pte Tinndal was killed in action on September 19th.
