Wounded on October 7, 1944. Injuries to the head. Died of wounds. Temporary buried in Sijsele, Belgium.

Brother Lorne Paisley Smith M/8665 Algonquin Regiment was killed in action on November 3, 1944 and laid to rest in Bergen op Zoom War Cemetery, Netherlands.
