Brother Alvin Herman M/10648, Calgary Highlanders *Original*. Killed in action on August 13, 1944 in France. Now buried in Bretteville-sur-Laize, France Plot 12, Row H, Grave 15. The Calgary Highlanders war diary: An RAP jeep taking Sgt. Alvin Palfenier to hospital with a very bad head wound took a wrong turn and ended up in Hun (German) lines. Palfenier and a medical orderly were taken prisoner and the driver managed to escape from his guard, and told us the story.
