Additional info

Vickers Wellington R1406 BL-C was on a mission to Köln, Germany. Other air crews reported poor weather conditions once back at base in the U.K. The R1406 bomber crashed on a farm in the area of Sint-Laureins, Belgium with it's explosive cargo (bombs and fuel) still onboard. After impact the aircraft caught fire, but somehow the 500 pounder bombs didn't explode. A crew of 6 was lost. 3 bodies were in such bad shape that they were reported as 'missing'.
