
This young Private disembarked on August 30, 1944 in France. Avard Isaac Northrup G/12239 was enlisted as a member of the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment, 10 Bn that same day. On September 1, 1944 he was transferred to the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. Avard died age 19 in Belgium by a bullet wound to the head. His remains were temporary buried in Duinhoek, Belgium. A place between De Panne and Adinkerke.
The findings of Commonwealth-Adegem's research were offered to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and after their research they confirmed that Private Northrup was a member of the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders during his active duties.
