Lance Corporal Alex Cunningham McCartney (age 27) G/22663 (North Shore Regiment) was born in Newcastle, New Brunswick, Canada. He was an original member of the regiment and disembarked in France on D-DAY June 6, 1944.
Researching his service records made clear that his service number suppose to be G/22663 instead of C/22663. "G" service numbers are known for enlistments in New Brunswick, while "C" service numbers are known for Ontario.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission confirmed these findings.
