The Algonquin war diary reports on October 8 1944: At 0115 hrs, Pte Hurlin of "A" Coy was killed when a shell from a tank, hit a tree and exploded beside him. During the day "A" Coy was subjected to its daily dose of sporadic shelling, but no further casualties were reported.
