Private James Henry Vincent D/156056, aged 31, was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (R.C.A.S.C.) and disembarked in France on 5 August 1944.
On the evening of 15 July 1945, Private Vincent was killed in an accident when the 5-cwt Willys vehicle (War Department No. M1165628) he was driving left the road on the approach to Balgerhoeke Bridge, between Bruges and Eeklo, Belgium, and plunged into the canal below. The accident occurred less than one kilometre from Adegem Canadian War Cemetery.
Following research by Commonwealth-Adegem, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission confirmed that Private Vincent was serving with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps at the time of his death. As a result, the Commission will replace his headstone to correct the regiment shown.
