The Algonquin War Diary reports: "Oostercampe" (Oostkamp) September 10th, 1944. In the morning the remainder of the bn (battalion) moved into an area outside Oostercampe MR 862926 (area between today's Gruuthuselaan and 'de Cellen' castle.) F and B sheet 21 and 31. The bridge had been completed at 0500 hrs but enemy resistance continued on the east bank of the canal de Ghent. At 2100 hrs C Coy was ordered to cross the canal and consolidate at Eekhoute farm MR 870951(Van Cailliedreef) F and B sheet 21 and 31 by passing through the A & SH of C (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada). The position was taken and held against continuous enemy fire. Casualties were reported to be 4 killed (L/Cpl Bulger F/60610, Pte Mc EACHERN A/105378, Sgt MYERS L/100000 and Cpl PARYSEK B/54708) and 4 wounded. Capt MASON was wounded in the foot.
